- Offer and request gifts nearby — post what you’re giving away or looking for, shown by area, never your exact address.
- Browse Nearby at your pace — set how wide you look, and pin your spot from the map or your location.
- Gifts of every kind — from furniture to plant cuttings, plus gifts of service like a skill or a helping hand.
- Raise a hand — say you’re interested in an Offer, or that you can help with a Request; the neighbor decides where it goes.
- Message in the app — arrange a hand-off with real-time messaging, no phone number needed. Your messages are stored encrypted, so they’re not sitting in plain text on our servers — it’s not end-to-end encryption, though, and we won’t pretend it is.
- A nudge when it matters — turn on notifications and hear when someone’s interested or replies.
- Follow your neighbors — keep up with the people and places near you.
- An identity that’s yours — a Gifthood profile with your name, photo, and a few words about you.
- Sign in without a new password — bring your Bluesky account, or set up a gifthood.social handle (your name on the open social web).
- You own your things — your posts and profile live in your own data repo; no walled garden, nothing for sale.
- Tools to feel safe — block or mute anyone, report a listing or a person, and a calm guide for meeting up.
- Made for your phone — add Gifthood to your home screen and it works just like an app.
